Honey & You

Honey is a delicious, unadulterated natural sweetener made by bees. Honey is typically made up of 38% fructose, 31% dextrose, 10% other sugars, 17% water and 4% other substances like enzymes, amino acids, vitamins, hydrogen peroxide, pollen granules and minerals.

Honey is a fantastic alternative to sugar, as it provides sweetness without ‘empty’ calories.

Honey doesn’t need any preparation and has an indefinite shelf life if kept correctly.

It can be used to add sweetness and moisture as an alternative to refined sugars in almost any recipe, marinade, smoothie or dressing. It is delicious simply spread on bread or drizzled on yoghurt and fruit.

If clear honey becomes cloudy as a result of the natural process of crystallisation, just stand the jar in hot water or give it a quick blast in the microwave for around 30 seconds (remove the lid first as it is made of metal).

Please be aware that honey is not suitable for infants under 12 months old.
